Southmoreland on the Plaza is a luxury boutique hotel and intimate wedding venue in Kansas City, Missouri, ideal for couples seeking a refined, private setting for their ceremony or reception. Our historic mansion accommodates elegant indoor celebrations and garden gatherings, offering a personalized experience unlike large wedding halls or resorts.

Facility tours require appointments which can be scheduled by emailing us at southmoreland@clemonslife.com. Tours are typically Monday-Wednesday from 11:00am-3:00pm.

Facility Rental

Facility rental for wedding and/or reception events varies depending on duration of wedding, number of guests, and room accommodations. Please consult a manager for further details. In order to reserve the facility, a non-refundable fee of 50% of the facility rental (by credit or debit) is required.

Unlike traditional wedding venues in Kansas City, Southmoreland offers exclusive use options that provide privacy, character, and the feeling of a private estate wedding—without the scale or impersonality of large event spaces.

Available Times

If a group reserves all of the guest rooms (the 12 rooms in the main house as well as the Carriage House suites), they may choose to have their event any time during their stay. This includes evening events.  Facility rental fees still apply. 

Full property buyouts allow couples and guests to enjoy the Main House and Carriage House accommodations throughout their stay.

Food and Beverage

You may use any vendor you wish; please provide a list of your vendors to us ahead of time. 

Couples may select their preferred licensed and insured caterers, allowing for fully customized dining experiences that reflect cultural, dietary, or personal preferences.

Terms

All arrangements must be confirmed with a credit or debit card. If the client prefers not to provide a credit or debit card, full payment in the form of a check must be made in advance. Final charges are due and payable via check upon receipt of services. Any damages to the property or its contents will be assessed and charged to the reserving guest.

Honeymoons

Our rooms offer two-person Jacuzzis, private decks or fireplaces which are ideal for a romantic evening. Since we are located just one and a half blocks from Kansas City Missouri’s Country Club Plaza, the two of you may continue your celebration at one of the many local restaurants or attractions.
